9:30–11:30 Creative Suite 4: How Creative Suite Design Premium enables a cross-media workflow

Adobe Creative Suite CS4 Extended allows you to do much more than build a brochure, a Web site, or a video file. During this session you will see how the various Creative Suite applications, such as Adobe Photoshop CS4, Adobe Illustrator CS4, Adobe InDesign CS4, Adobe Flash CS4, and Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 combine to allow you to tell your story to a variety of people in a variety of ways.

You will learn how to:

  • Use productivity tools in Photoshop to save time and create new, exciting images for your work
  • Move seamlessly from print to Web to video with the same assets
  • Use Adobe Bridge CS4 to help you keep track of all of the various files you are using
  • Quickly create and publish animated files with Flash CS4
  • Share and review your work using Adobe Acrobat Professional and PDF
With these tools, you’ll be able to tell a truly engaging story that will catch and hold the audience’s attention—no matter how you reach them.

12:00–1:00 Lunch and Learn: Adobe’s eLearning tools—a platform to build on
Adobe Systems, Inc. is best known for Acrobat and our creative tools. However, we offer tools dedicated to the task of creating excellent eLearning and distance-learning projects. This session will highlight those tools and demonstrate how you can make use of these, easy-to-use products to create engaging, high-quality projects that both augment, supplant, or replace more traditional methods of content delivery. During the session, you will see:

  • Adobe Presenter 7—a plugin to PowerPoint for creating self-running eLearning projects with voice over and assessment
  • Adobe Captivate 3—A standalone tool for creating self-running presentations with screen-capture, branching, and assessment
  • Adobe Acrobat Connect Professional 7—a remote, virtual classroom tool for small- and large-group presentations and collaboration

Whether you are responsible for campus-wide eLearning strategies or simply interested in creating simple, on-demand lessons, this session will give you some food for thought about how to quickly and effectively move your projects into the digital age.

1:30–3:30 Empowering Learning with PDF and Adobe Acrobat 9
Adobe Acrobat 9 allows you to rethink the term “document.” With PDF—the Portable Document Format—you have been able to collect a variety of document types together and deliver a complete, in-context package of information to tell your story. Whether it’s a class assignment package, an electronic dissertation, or a grant proposal, PDF is a great way to hand your content to others.

With Adobe Acrobat 9, we are changing the game. By bringing Flash technology into the PDF file format, Acrobat allows you to create a document that includes true interactivity as a way to grab your audience’s attention, hold it, and truly get your point across. Some specific, new features for the educational community that leverage this are:

  • Portfolios—Package your documents (both PDF and non-PDF) and deliver them with a completely custom look and feel
  • Add video—With direct support for Flash and Flash Video, you can literally make the pages of your documents jump to life
  • Collect data—With a new forms creation and collect workflow, you can gather the data you need for your projects and use it
  • Work with others—Acrobat works with Acrobat.com, a new, free set of services from Adobe that enable true document collaboration
  • Stay together—When you both look at a PDF, Acrobat let’s you stay on the same page and at the same view automatically
  • Create—Acrobat Pro Extended includes Adobe Presenter, a plug-in for PowerPoint (Windows-only) to create content

During this session, you will see just how Adobe is helping to redefine the way you work with documents, communicate with others, and deliver your message to the world.

Tim Plumer, Jr. has been working with and for Adobe since 1998, when he became an Applications Engineer for the creative tools team in the Northeast. In his current role as a Senior Solutions Engineer for the Education sales team, he works to place Adobe technologies into the context of the needs of Higher Education customers. One of the more versatile tools in Adobe's stable is Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional, which he promotes as an ePortfolio, a paper-saving , a data-collection, and a general document handling tool. One of his great joys is to see the ways students and teachers alike employ both PDF and Adobe Acrobat in ways he never could have dreamed. He is also an Adobe Certified Expert in Adobe Acrobat 9, Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Acrobat Connect Professional 7, and Adobe Presenter 7 software, and uses those tools to support his is current passion for eLearning.
