Intended for those with a need to edit existing or author original web content, this 7-hour hands-on course covers the fundamentals of modern web page design. Requiring only a text editor, you will use HTML5 elements to create semantically meaningful document structures that support video and music in addition to traditional text content. You will learn how to control the format and layout of a page using cascading style sheets (CSS3). Numerous exercises include embedding and linking content, navigation, image maps, creating multiple column layouts and tables. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and general content accessibility considerations are discussed along with techniques for performing cross-browser compatibility and markup validation tests.
Prerequisites: Some familiarity with HTML markup. No experience with CSS required.
