Visual Studio Team Foundation Server is the collaboration platform at the core of Visual Studio application lifecycle management. This platform helps teams minimize risk, streamline interactions, and reduce waste throughout the software development and delivery process. Team Explorer is the client software that you use to access the Team Foundation Server functionality. In addition, Visual Studio Foundation Server Client Access Licenses (CALs) are required to access this Server and must be purchased separately. They are not included in the Campus-wide licensing and must be purchased for either each device that will access the software.
Team Foundation Server 2017 and newer no longer requires a product key.
With Team Foundation Server, you license the server and the users connecting to the server. Users who only need access to work items are free, and other users need a user CAL (client access license) for access to most features in Team Foundation Server.
Each Visual Studio subscription includes a server license and one user CAL for Team Foundation Server, making this one of the best ways to acquire Team Foundation Server.
This offer includes Azure DevOps Server 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. Microsoft part number 125-00110
