Microsoft SharePoint makes it easier for people to work together. Using SharePoint, your people can set up Web sites to share information with others, manage documents from start to finish, and publish reports to help everyone make better decisions.
This is a Server + CAL license model.
About Licensing
Please note: SharePoint Client Access Licenses (CALs) are required to access this server. The University Microsoft Campus Agreement includes CALs for this server, so no additional purchase is necessary. The type of CAL, core or enterprise determines the capabilities of the application, standard or enterprise.
The Urbana, Chicago, and Springfield campuses are already licensed for the Enterprise CAL Suite for faculty and staff which includes SharePoint CALs. Also, all three campuses are already licensed for the Core CAL for all undergrad and graduate Students which includes the SharePoint CALs.
Remote Desktop Services CALs may also be required and must be purchased separately. They are not included in the Enterprise CAL or Core CAL Suites.
In SharePoint 2013 and beyond, for Extranet and Internet sites scenarios, no CALs are required for External Users.
External users mean users that are not either your or your affiliates’ employees, or your or your affiliates’ onsite contractors or onsite agents. In our case Graduate Students are considered to be External Users. SharePoint 2010 customers with Software Assurance (SA) can leverage Volume Licensing downgrade rights to run SharePoint 2010 bits with SharePoint 2013 use rights
This offer contains version 2016, 2019 and is Microsoft part number H04-00232.
