Acrobat Error on Mac – “Sorry, Something Went Wrong”
Use this guide if Acrobat on macOS displays:
“Sorry, Something Went Wrong”
This issue is most common on: - newer Macs - Apple Silicon devices - recently activated Adobe accounts
Reinstalling Acrobat usually does NOT resolve this issue.
Solution — Run AcrobatNGEnable Tool
Step 1 — Download the Tool
Download:
- https://helpx.adobe.com/content/dam/help/en/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-activation/jcr_content/main-pars/download_section_cop/download-1/AcroNGLEnableTool.zip
Save the file to your Desktop.
Step 2 — Close Acrobat
Quit: - Acrobat - Creative Cloud Desktop - any open Adobe applications
Step 3 — Allow macOS Security Permissions
macOS may block the tool from running.
If prompted: - allow the tool under: - System Settings → Privacy & Security
If you do not have administrator permissions on the computer: - contact your department IT support

Step 4 — Run the Tool
- Extract the downloaded ZIP file
- Double-click:
- AcrobatNGEnableTool
After the tool finishes: - reopen Acrobat - confirm the issue is resolved
If the Error Continues
Run the tool manually from Terminal.
Step 5 — Open Terminal
Open: - Terminal
Step 6 — Allow the Tool to Execute
Run:
chmod 775 <Path to the tool>
chmod 775 /Users/<username>/Desktop/AcroNGLEnableTool
Step 7 — Run the Tool
Run:
<Path to the tool>
Example:
/Users/<username>/Desktop/AcroNGLEnableTool

You can drag the tool into the Terminal window to automatically insert the file path.
Step 8 — Open Acrobat
Quit Terminal and reopen Acrobat.
The error should now be resolved.
